BERLIN ENTRY, RABBIT ON THE MOON, ACQUIRED BY CAPITOL FILMS

Leading financing and sales company, Capitol Films, has announced the acquisition of the Jorge Ramirez-Suarez written and directed feature film, RABBIT ON THE MOON(CONEJO EN LA LUNA). It is the first ever Mexico/UK co-production and another exciting movie in the Mexican New Wave genre, following on from the international success of Amores Perros and Y Tu Mama Tambien.

Julie Mile (Lorraine Pilkington) is a young English woman living in Mexico City with her husband, Antonio (Bruno Bichir) and their four month old daughter. Their idyllic life is suddenly shattered when Antonio is falsely accused of a political murder and Julie and the baby are kidnapped en route to sanctuary at the British Embassy. The film also stars, Jesus Ochoa as Ramirez, Adam Kotz as Bower and Alvaro Guerrero(Amores Perros) as Lopez.

Selected by Berlin's Director, Dieter Kosslick, as part of his Berlinale Special section at this year's Festival, the film opened to rave reviews in Mexico and had its World Premiere at AFI in Los Angeles. Reforma, described it as, "Classic Hitchcock meets classic Costa-Gavras" and the LA Weekly Review(USA) called it, "A sleek and effective thriller in which the ever twisting plot ratchets up the tension to near unbearable levels."

Jorge Ramirez-Suarez will be attending the Berlin Film Festival along with producer Phil Hunt and stars Bruno Bichir and Jesus Ochoa.

RABBIT ON THE MOON(CONEJO EN LA LUNA) is a Beanca Films(Mexico), Fidecine(Mexico) and Headgear Films(England) co-production. The Production Designer is Bernardo Trujillo (Frida - Oscar nominated in this category) and the Editor is Alex Rodríguez (editor - Y Tu Mamá También and associate editor of Harry Potter And The Prisioner Of Azkaban).
